HELSINKI GUGGENHEIM

MFGA / HELSINKI, FINLAND

An experimental proposal for the new 129,000 sq. Ft. Guggenheim museum to be located on the waterfront in Helsinki, Finland. The design was used as a research project that was exclusively constructed from “recycled digital materials,” which were simply randomly downloaded 3D models of objects. Through the high-resolution recombining, or “kitbashing” of components, the individual figures were intended to lose their original symbolism in favor of the emergence of a new form of architectural aesthetic that mysteriously hints at, but in no way reveals, the importance of the artistic contents within.
